What to expect at the Centre

 ->

Initial Visit - Your Doctor, Emergency Department or Specialist will refer you to the Asthma Education Centre. Here, you will receive individual counselling and asthma management from a Registered Nurse and a Registered Respiratory Therapist. You may also be offered the opportunity to attend group sessions.

 ->
  Reassessment Visits - Now that we know more about you and your asthma, the next few visits will help you acquire the skills needed to take an active role in your asthma management.

 ->
  Follow-up Visit - Six months after your initial visit, you will be scheduled for a follow-up visit. This visit will review the effectiveness of your action plan and answer any questions that you may have.

Other things to know about the Centre


 -> Throughout your treatment, your regular doctor will manage your asthma. He/she is an active member of the Centre's Team and will be kept up-to-date on your progress, on an ongoing basis, by the Asthma Education Centre staff.

 -> The activities of the Centre are currently being evaluated to determine if it is meeting objectives. We may ask you to participate in this formal evaluation process and at all times, we encourage you to provide our Team with your thoughts and suggestions on how we can improve.

 -> We encourage family involvement at all stages of the learning process.
