H1N1
The H1N1 flu virus is a respiratory illness that causes symptoms similar to those of the regular human seasonal flu. Website at The Public Health Association contains relevant and timely information from Health Canada, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization on H1N1 (swine flu). PHAC advises Canadians to:
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, or use hand sanitizer
  • Cough and sneeze in your arm or sleeve
  • Keep doing what you normally do, but stay home if sick
  • Check this website at Public Health Agency of Canada for more information.
  • Before travelling visit this website at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada for travel notices and advisories.
  • If you have travelled to Mexico, California or Texas and you become sick with flu-like symptoms - especially respiratory symptoms such as, fever and cough or difficulty breathing - talk to a health professional and tell him or her that you have recently travelled to those areas.
